“I want to make something beautiful, to make something that escapes definition or specific place, to reach for what is felt rather than understood.”

I have family roots in Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. I’m a Midwesterner with the added tang of having lived in Florida and New York City for long stretches of time. This skews things but in a positive way.

The human condition is the most fascinating subject in which I can imagine working. The intention of my work is always to reveal the thing that hints at or points to expressing a state of mind. Some pieces abstract completely to the core of an idea, some are in a more narrative state. I’m interested in the human side of a scene, object or figure.
