“I believe art is an amalgam of experimentation and training with a healthy dose of luck mixed in.”
Philip Hoffman has something to say with his vivid oil covered canvases. Attending a local art college and the Atelier School of Fine Arts, gave him a thorough understanding of composition, color and lighting. Then, having internalized the traditional artist’s training, he decided to move into abstraction. He feels passionately that art should explore the human condition, as well as draw upon both the traditional and the natural worlds. His artwork is daring, eye-catching and open to interpretation.
“I believe art is an amalgam of experimentation and training with a healthy dose of luck mixed in. I choose my palate, apply a base of color and then experiment on the canvas. I work quickly bringing the backround to the fore and sending it back again. I almost always have an experiential idea in mind as I work, not expressly trying to represent a particular, but usually a mood.”
